Found Sixteen

FOUND: SIXTEEN-AND-A-HALF DEADLINES, SLIGHTLY USED Ah, what a change two and a half years can convey! On October 5, 2010, here at Fantasy Author’s Handbook, I posted a, unabashed plea for deadlines: WANTED: ONE DEADLINE, ANY CONDITION by which, among other things, I bemoaned my own inability to stick to a self-imposed deadline. Truth be told, these self-imposed deadlines stay troublesome for me to stick to, although I actually have written and even published quite a bit of material within the thirty months since writing that publish. But the biggest distinction is the successâ€"and all of the hard work that comes with itâ€"that my then-fledgling enterprise has introduced in within the meantime. So right here’s one thing which will sound like an excuse, but isn’t (kinda). This week’s post shall be a bit shorter than others as a result of I’m just too damn busy! Though (the unseasonably warm and sunny weather aside) it still looks like Western Washington exterior my window, right here at my desk I really feel as if I’ve tur n out to be a permanent resident of Deadline Hell. This is a locale, believe me, with which I have appreciable expertise. But the past few weeks, and the few weeks forward of me, have been a bit off the charts, a minimum of in my publish-WotC life. I can’t be specific with many of those projects, if any, however let’s see the place I am right now: And all this with regular modern life stuff: bills, school financial assist paperwork to get in, spring lawn and backyard care, and different stuff. Whew. Really? Is this what I was asking for that sunny October morning in 2010? As a matter of fact, sure, it's. This is exactly what I requested for and fact be advised, I’m loving every minute of it. I’m busy, and I love being busy. I’m hitting my deadlines(ish), and doing a wide variety of attention-grabbing work, and meeting new people on a regular basis, and widening my net when it comes to genre, category, and function. If October 2010 Phil could see me now, he’d be fairly pl eased, then inform me, “Get to work!” Okay, okay, I’m going . . . â€"Philip Athans About Philip Athans Fill in your details below or click on an icon to log in: You are commenting utilizing your WordPress.com account.
